KinectToTouchDesigner sends the depth image captured by a kinect to TouchDesigner using shared memory.
First install OpenNI
Then download and install “SensorKinect-Win32-5.0.0.exe” from here (it’s in the bin directory)
Finally download KinectToTouchDesigner.zip
Unpack it, load the tox file, start KinectToTouchDesigner.exe and you should see a grayscale depth-image in the tileviewer. The actual output of the component holds the distance from the sensor in milimeters in a 16bit texture.
Cool! Getting avg 3ms cook rate on my cpu but with spikes up to 20ms. might want to try forcing the driver to update without waiting.
weird. I’m getting .3 ms and no spikes
SensorKinect-Win32-5.0.0.exe doesn’t want to run on 64bit win7.
Boo hoo! Waaaaaaah!
I’ll pleased with them to build a 64 bit one. or is it win7 that’s the problem. Achim, you and James are using win7 right? 32 or 64 bit?
I’m tempted to switch back to 32bit but perservering with 64. It’s hard to let go of all that RAM!
So disappointed.
Rod.
hey rod, it should work! My stuff was created and tested on win7 64 bit. And SensorKinect-Win32-5.0.0.exe installs fine over here as well
